What makes a good leader?

What makes a good leader? A good leader inspires those below them to be their best. They don’t do it with fear, and they have integrity.
There are so many qualities that a good leader has that make them a leader.
I’ve worked with some good leaders, I have worked with some good leaders, and I have worked with some that have just been awful.
When I worked as a butcher, the shop I worked in was pretty big (it was almost like a supermarket). Apprentice butchers would always start in the wholesale section.
When I first started, the manager of the wholesale section was a guy named Davey. In the begining, Davey was nice, so I thought. After a while I found out how bad he actually was.
Davey would continually blame others for things, and there were things he wouldn’t teach me or would get anyone else to teach me something I was meant to know.
I also caught Davey talking about me when behind my back one day. As I was walking around a corner of the store and I overheard him say to another worker, “I said to him are you fucking stupid?” As soon as he saw me, he stopped talking straight away. He never said that to me. He just liked to pump himself up instead of lifting the staff around him.
The other lousy leader I had was the guy that took Davey’s job. His name was Rob, and he was awful. He commanded respect through fear. I had a lot of problems with him. I won’t go into the reason he didn’t like me now. He also wouldn’t tell anyone if they were doing or had done a good job because that was what they were supposed to do, and he didn’t need to say that.
Honestly, I have a long list of why Rob was a bad leader, but I’m saving that for another time.
Have a good day or night wherever you are reading this.
