Write about a few of your favorite family traditions.

Since I was home for my sister’s birthday, I asked Mum if there were any traditions we used to do when I was a kid, as I could only remember one. She told me there were a few things we used to do.
1. Christmas Lights in Athol St
I remember Christmas in Wagga as a magical time as a kid. My favourite thing to do was look at Christmas Lights. These days there is a map in the local paper for the best places to see the lights, but when I was a kid there was only one street where you could see Christmas lights, and that was Athol Street.
Mum reminded me that I used to call it ‘Apple St.’ I hope to take my kids there one day.
2. Dinner at Saigon
One of my favourite places for dinner was the Saigon Chinese Restaurant. Mum and I would always go for a special occasion like my birthday, or if I had played well at footy, it would be a special treat.
The Saigon closed down a long time ago, so I can no longer go there but it will always hold a special place in my heart.
3. Lunch in Collins Park
Growing up, it was just mum and I until I was 12. During spring and summer, we would get some McDonald’s and head to the park. Mum would read a book, and while I would play on the equipment.
Days like this I look back at fondly, and sometimes I wish I could go back in time to those days.
There are the three family traditions that I remember, I’m looking forward to starting my own family so we can have our own traditions.
