It has been a while since I have written, eight months to be exact. 2023 has been a long, sometimes tough and interesting year.
Back in April, when it was the last time I wrote on this blog, I was made redundant by Southern Cross Austero after Spencer Gulf was cancelled.
I wasn’t long out of a job though, I had people from both the Barrier Truth (Broken Hill’s local paper) and the ABC contact me. I ended up going to the ABC.
Working for the ABC was something I never thought I would do, I always thought I was not smart enough to work there. I was lucky enough to be given the chance to prove myself wrong. However, as the year becomes to an end, I still have some way to go to prove that IO do belong there.
Working at the ABC has been an experience that has me doing all kinds of different reporting. From live radio news reads, to digital articles and a little bit of tv (I haven’t done too much tv work) and I still feel like I have a lot to learn while working there and in the team I am sure I can get better.
While there have been some good moments, there have also been some tough ones. While I won’t be negative and go through them, I’m sure they were to test me so I can be a better person.
The goal for 2024 is to be more creative, with the adjustments I had to make this year I feel that I wasn’t very creative and I have ideas I want to try out and see where that goes.
Thanks for taking the time to read my first post for eight months, and I hope you have a great new year.
Until next time, take care.
