Summer House Drama shows that friends’ exes aren’t off-limits.

Fans of Summer House are up in arms over recent revelations that Amanda Batula and West Wilson are together, proof that people often swear they’ll never date a friend’s ex, but do it anyway.

If you’re not across the drama of Summer House, strap yourself in, becuase there’s a bit to process.

One of the biggest storylines in this season is the breakdown of Kyle Cooke’s and Amanda Batula’s marriage. Given how things have played out on the show since the pair tied the knot, some weren’t surprised that the couple have split. The surprising thing, though, is that Cooke and Batula announced their divorce in a joint statement before season 10 started.

As everything has played out on screen this season, off-screen, a rumour emerged that has destroyed friendships and made viewers pick a side.

The rumour was that Batula had entered into a relationship with castmate West Wilson. A rumour that the pair recently confirmed on Instagram.

For those who don’t know, West Wilson is from Columbia, Missouri, and played football at Montana State University. He joined the cast of Summer House in season eight. He is a sports and pop culture content creator for Complex Networks. Here is some of this work:

Wilson was previously in a relationship with another Summer House cast member, Ciara Miller.

Ciara Miller, a nurse and model, has been a part of Summer House since season five, as well as Winter House, a show that sees stars from the Bravo universe stay in different winter locations.

Miller has been one of Batula’s closest friends on the show, often sticking up for her during her fights with Cooke and putting him in his place as a good best friend does.

Miller and Wilson dated; however, the pair broke up, with Wilson saying his inability to commit was the reason. It had seemed that in the latest season, the pair might get back together, with the ‘will they or won’t they’ storyline happening between them.

What’s happening now?

Early in March, everyone’s favourite gossip source, DeuxMoi, reported that Wilson and Batula had been seen at an event. Things heated up. Wilson was also seen with Miller the following day. Wilson was also seen with an unnamed woman leaving a bistro in New York.

As things started to unravel, eagle-eyed detectives had noticed that Miller had unfollowed both Wilson and Batula on Instagram, which means the friendship is over (every messy friendship or relationship ends this way). The pair were also meant to make a public appearance together, which was later cancelled.

The tea gets even better, with TMZ reporting that Miller found out before the announcement by seeing a video of Wilson and Batula being intimate in Wilson’s apartment.

As with all celebrity break-ups, people are forced to pick a side, and it seems some have already made their decision. Former Summer House star Paige DeSorbo, who was friends with Miller and Batula, is ‘Team Ciara,’ while Jon Hamm recently said on Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live that he is also ‘Team Ciara.’

Season 10 of Summer House is still showing on TV right now, so the reunion is going to be very interesting. In the past, some cast members of Bravo reality shows have not shown up to their reunions; the same thing could happen here as well. However, it is hard to tell who won’t want to show up and tell their side of the story at this time.

Conclusion

This messy reality-show love triangle shows something I have known from past experiences: exes are not off-limits. When I was navigating dating and relationships, no matter my best intentions or my friends’ best intentions, we would ultimately break whatever promise we made to each other, becuase we thought we were in love.

This also doesn’t extend to exes; there are those women our friends are in love with who aren’t interested in them. One day, they show interest in you. This is a tricky one, as not only do you risk losing a friendship over this, but the relationship may turn out to be the worst one you have ever had. Tread these waters carefully.

Men can say, ‘I will never break the bro code,’ or ‘bros before hoes’ all they want, and women can swear until they’re black and blue that they would never betray a friend by dating the ex, but it always happens, it always will.

Anyway, here’s a song about being in love with your friend’s ex-girlfriend.
