What colleges have you attended?
Good evening, or morning depending on what part of the world you’re from, loyal reader and I hope it was a great hump day for you.
Today’s question is a bit easier, which is nice. I know it says what colleges have you attended, but I’ve only been to university so I’ll tell you about that.
When I was in hospital, I wasn’t interested in going to uni at all. My goal was to become a professional rugby league player, but my step dad told me that I should get a trade so I had something to fall back on.
When school was over I started to apply for apprenticeships. The first one I had an interview for was for an auto-electrician, which I didn’t get. The next interview was for a welder, even though the interview went well, the business decided the timing wasn’t right to put an apprentice on.
The final interview I went to was for an apprentice butcher, and this one I got. I would spend nine years as a butcher, and then I decided that it was time for a career change.
I had been writing about MMA and the UFC for sometime and while I was getting free tickets to events, I was still having to pay for travel and accommodation, so an ex-girlfriend said that I should get a sports journalism degree.
After doing research on sports media degrees, I decided to go t the University of Canberra. Before I could do the degree I had to do a bridging course to get in as it had been a while since I had finished school.
Looking back at my time at uni, I could have done a lot better. I let life get in the way, and I almost dropped out. After deferring two years, I went back and got the degree.
Since finishing uni, I got a job which took me to Broken Hill and have been here two years, I am grateful I decided to go back and finish it.
